Who we serve
Who We Serve
Everyone belongs. Everyone has something to contribute.
Most of the people we work with aren't in crisis. They're simply holding more than they should have to hold alone.
They're keeping families together, leading teams, caring for others, building businesses, studying, creating, and showing up every day, often while quietly managing stress, grief, uncertainty, or exhaustion of their own.
They are resilient. And sometimes, they are tired.
Many would never walk into a clinic. Not only because of cost, though cost is real, but because so many wellbeing spaces feel too clinical, too expensive, or too far removed from everyday Kenyan life.
They're looking for something different. Something that meets them where they already are. Something that speaks their language, not just linguistically but culturally, and honours the wisdom, rhythms and traditions we already hold. Something that makes space for both joy and grief, and reminds them they don't have to go through life alone.
Root & Reconnect is built for them.
That's why we bring wellbeing into the places people already gather, and why we're building a tiered model: those who can pay help sustain access for those who can't.
We work primarily with young people, professionals, parents and caregivers, community leaders, and the organisations that support them, beginning in Nairobi, with a vision to reach communities across Kenya and beyond.
Inside organisations too
People Building with People
The same people are inside our organisations, too.
They're the programme officer still at her desk at 11pm. The manager supporting a struggling team while facing challenges of their own. The founder, entrepreneur or executive director who hasn't taken a proper break in months, or years. The university lecturer balancing community wellbeing with institutional responsibility. The funder who chose this work because something about it is deeply personal.
Every organisation is made up of people.
That's why we don't build separate solutions for individuals and institutions. We help create cultures of care that strengthen both.
Whether we're working with a community, a workplace, a festival, or a funding partner, the goal is the same: healthier relationships, with ourselves, with each other, and with the communities we belong to.
Organisations, funders, practitioners, and creatives choose to work with us. Not simply because they support the work, but because they recognise themselves in it.
